Potty training: Elton John gets down on his hands and knees to try to tempt Zachary towards a potty

The Candle In The Wind singer announced that he and his husband, David Furnish, had had a son, Zachary Jackson Levon Furnish-John, born to a surrogate mother in 2010.

These latest pictures show Elton trying to potty train little Zachary, who will turn two on Christmas Day.

Quite why Elton was using an apple on a stick to tempt his son towards the potty is anyone’s guess. But at least it shows that Zachary is almost definitely getting his five-a-day.

Besides, there must be a method to his madness as Elton has had a lot of practice helping to raise his 10 godchildren who include Sean Lennon, Romeo and Brooklyn Beckham and Elizabeth Hurley’s son Damian Charles.

Mission accomplished: Elton looks a little weary as he takes Zachary out for a bike ride

After Zachary had done his business, he was rewarded with a celebratory little cycle ride in the garden of Elton and John Furnish’s Berkshire mansion. The little lad looked pleased as punch to be spending some quality time with one of his fathers.

Elton, on the other hand, looked a little like he was ready for a long afternoon nap or a stiff drink… Well, he is a pensioner after-all.
