Bruce Forsyth is a national treasure with 60 years of showbiz experience under his belt, so you would have thought he would be capable of getting to the National Television Awards on time… not so.
Strictly dapper: At 84 years old, Bruce Forsyth still does his own ironing
The 84-year-old Strictly Come Dancing presenter made many a little worried when he didn’t turn up at the ceremony last night, two seats had been reserved for the TV legend and his wife, Wilnelia Merced, in the front row.
But Forsyth fans needn’t have been concerned. Brucie had just miscalculated how long it would take him to get ready for the night out. He was still ironing his tuxedo trousers as the ceremony started.
Nice to see you: Brucie looked very smart in his velvet jacket… but he never made it out of the house last night
The pensioner is not as quick on his feet as he used to be, and many are expecting him to step down from presenting Strictly this year. Anton Du Beke has even been suggested as his replacement.
However Brucie has no intention of retiring quite yet. If he can still iron his own tux (albeit VERY slowly), he can still present a prime time dance show.
Looking good: At an age where most people are decades into their retirement, Brucie is still going strong
And the TV veteran is clearly doing something right, Strictly Come Dancing picked up the award for Best Talent show last night.
It’s a shame you couldn’t be there to help Tess Daly lift the trophy, Brucie. It would have been nice to see you, to see you nice.
