She’s a regular on the posh nightclub circuit, her parents own a company that sells festive paraphernalia and her sister threw the biggest party of 2011 – the Royal Wedding. So you would have thought that Pippa Middleton would feel rather at home at a shin-dig… But these photos prove otherwise.
Picture perfect: Pippa Middleton looks right at home at a children’s party which she has organised
Pippa secured a book deal rumoured to be worth £400,000 last year. The hardback, entitled Celebration, retails at £25 and promises to be “a one-stop guide to entertaining throughout the British year”. But the socialite almost fell at the final hurdle.
After penning more than 400 pages worth of “easy and affordable ideas for a successful celebration and… charming and little-known facts and historical anecdotes for each occasion,” Pippa then had to face her toughest challenge yet: the photoshoots.
Party poppers: Kate Middleton’s sister is writing a book all about how to throw the perfect celebration
Calm before the storm: The children all seem to love being around Pippa
What started off as a perfectly organised children’s party – complete with jam tarts, shiny hats and colourful helium balloons – soon turned into a food fight in the studio.
The kids did seem to be having a rather excellent time, but Pippa learnt that wearing a white dress when you’re surrounded by little ‘uns is not necessarily the best party tip – and that glitter gets everywhere.
Getting out of hand: But the children soon started to get over-excited… and Pippa looks decidedly unimpressed
Balloon fight: P-Middy looks like she doesn’t know how to handle her party guests
A couple of the pictures from early on in the day might just make it into Celebrate – or perhaps the whole shoot was intended to show potential buyers that well-organised parties don’t just throw themselves.
If even party expert Pippa is struggling to keep things in order, maybe we do all need a £25 manual to show us how to keep festivities under control?
Restoring order: Pippa tries to separate an especially unruly duo
Head in her hands: The festivities get completely out of control and the hostess gives up
Wardrobe disaster: Pippa looks a long way from picture perfect half-an-hour into the shoot
In need of a stiff drink: Pippa borrows one of her party guests’ curly straws
Post-party cleaning: The hostess with the mostest gets out her dustpan and brush
So over it: With the shoot done and dusted, Pippa is left to pick up the pieces
